The Save The Block Campaign is now 150 donations shy of the goal of securing 1000 donations by the end of the month. Those 1000 donations of any size are what is needed in order to secure a $1-million challenge grant to help save the historic block containing the Van Vleck house.A local family has offered $1,000,000 if the campaign secures 1,000 new gifts– of any size – by the end of May. The drive needs to raise a total of between $7-and 8-million by August to prevent the historic structures being purchases and razed to make room for commercial development on the block. The preserved green space would then have the potential for live-work space for local nonprofits like the Children’s Museum and Historical Society and Museum which both lost their leases in their most recent locations. The Jackson Hole Land Trust has taken the fundraising lead on the project and may be contacted by those wishing to make donations.
