Three schools in Teton County were briefly locked down around 1:00 pm yesterday in the interest of safety, as police were dispatched to the Cottonwood area to deal with a knife-wielding Juvenile. Students at Jackson Hole Middle School, Colter Elementary School and Jackson Hole High School were sheltered inside the buildings and the exterior doors were locked.
Law enforcement quickly apprehended the individual and took him into custody, allowing the lock-down to be lifted. Details about the incident including the identity and age of the person apprehended were not immediately available.
A news release about the incident from the school district stated, “Our highest priority is the health and safety of our students, and we appreciate the coordination and support we receive from law enforcement agencies to support us in those efforts.
