Teton County School District is seeking bids from arborists to determine best next steps after a microburst toppled several trees in front of Jackson Hole High school and Colter Elementary School Tuesday, including one that fell onto one of the entrances to Colter School. District Information Coordinator Charlotte Reynolds says the district is currently working on an estimate to repair the minor damages to the CES roof, but doesn’t expect it will be more than $2,000. Reynolds says another concern is for student safety as it is a given that those trees are susceptible to falling or breaking off. Reynolds says staff inspected the trees after the event and decided to remove a tree that had not been toppled because the root system looked weak. No other damage to school property was reported.
