Teton County School District #1 has received approval from Teton District Health Officer Dr Riddell and State Health Officer Dr Harrist to proceed with the district’s Phase 1 reopening plan. This plan includes providing supervision for 180 kindergarten through 5th grade students at Colter Elementary School. The students will continue to engage with their teachers via the Adapted Learning Plan in place since early April. Under the plan, teachers will continue to teach from home while paraprofessionals and other support staff provide supervision for students in small groups. Jackson Hole High School and Summit Innovations School continue planning to offer celebrations for graduating seniors, potentially including graduation ceremonies. School officials are still uncertain if students will be able to return to school for the last few weeks of the 2019-2020 school year. Critical to that decision is guidance from health officials regarding the allowable size of social gatherings. Meanwhile, District 401 in Teton Valley, Idaho has already determined NOT to return to the schools this school year.
