Based on guidance provided to school districts by the state of Wyoming, Teton County School District #1 has announced that schools in Jackson Hole will remain closed through May 15th and possibly for the remainder of the school year. The Wyoming Department of Education noted that currently, special populations may access the buildings on a limited basis, and they may continue to do so with the approval of the local county health officer. A final decision about reopening the schools will be made after the updated statewide orders expire on May 15th. In the meantime, the district will be developing a plan to outline how to reopen schools and ensure physical distancing protocols. Earlier this week in neighboring Teton Valley, Idaho, the school board decided to keep their schools closed the rest of this school year.
