Legislation introduced by Teton County Representative Andy Schwartz and passed in the recent session of the Wyoming House and Senate established the last Saturday of each September as Wyoming Public Lands Day. It requires the Governor to issue an annual proclamation encouraging the observance of this day. In Jackson for the dedication of a new stormwater treatment facility at the airport, Governor Mark Gordon took the opportunity to make that proclamation.
In signing the proclamation, Gordon encouraged the state’s public schools to observe the day by discussing the role Wyoming’s public lands play in the state’s history, economy and the diverse benefits we derive from the lands.
