Beginning this weekend and continuing into early next week, the familiar Scouting for Food flyers will be making their appearances on doorknobs around town. Then, a week from Saturday, October 24th, local scouts will be fanning out around the neighborhoods to pick up donated food from the front doorsteps of the homes. Those who do not receive a Scouting for Food flyer or otherwise are not included in the pick-up are encouraged to drop donated food into collection boxes at the fronts of each of the community’s grocery stores. With the strain placed on so many by the COVID pandemic, the local food bank has become more needed than ever and so keeping it supplied has been a challenge. The Scouting for Food drive soliciting food donations from area residents traditionally has been one of the most significant collections of the year for the cupboard.
