Teton County Search and Rescue volunteers responded to two separate accidents Wednesday as summer visitation begins ramping up. Just before noon, the team was called to help a woman in her 70s who’d fallen from a horse near the Hoback River.
Volunteers responded with electric mountain bikes, the RZR side-by-side, and a ground team. With the trail too narrow for the RZR, the e-bikes reached the patient first, where volunteers were able to provide medical assistance and transport her via the wheeled litter to a waiting ambulance.
In the second incident, the team was called around 4:00 pm to help a woman who had sustained a serious leg injury while hiking in Darby Canyon. As team members approached, the woman was being carried out of the backcountry by companions and other concerned citizens. She was then handed off to professional medical care. There was no immediate word on the condition of either patient.
