Search For Reitmann Resumes Saturday AM

Teton County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (TCSAR) will continue until 7:00pm this evening in their search in the Granite Creek Area without locating Wilson, Wyoming resident Bernard Reitmann. Reitmann was reported missing by his family on Wednesday evening, September 23 when he failed to return home after a day of hunting.  Search teams will resume the search tomorrow morning.
Approximately 70 people were used in field search operations, including TCSAR members, staff from federal agencies and community volunteers.  The search focused on a 14 square mile area on the west side of Granite Creek.  Over the last three days more than 150 personnel have logged in excess of 1800 man-hours.
With the general elk hunting season starting tomorrow, TCSAR reminds hunters and recreationalists that an active search is underway, with approximately 100 volunteers and two helicopters in the Granite Creek drainage.  Anyone with information regarding Bernard’s location should contact Teton County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at (307) 733.2331 so the information can promptly be shared with search teams. Mr. Reitmann was last known to be traveling on the Highline Trail in the Granite Creek area on the morning of Wednesday, September 23rd and reported as wearing a blue jacket, a hunting cap, and boots. He was also carrying a rifle when he left on his hunting trip.
Additionally, anyone interested in adding their name to a list of potential temporary volunteers should call (307) 732-8846 before 10:00pm tonight to sign up.  Volunteers are asked to report to the Search and Rescue Hangar at 7:00am tomorrow morning for a briefing before heading to the search area.
