Grand Teton National Park staff focused their attention on extensively searching the Garnet Canyon area of the park for 27-year-old Cian McLaughlin. Based on a sighting of McLaughlin by a local climbing guide on June 8th, operations were adjusted to focus efforts on the Garnet Canyon area. Operations included over sixty park staff conducting ground search efforts.
Teams were flown into the Garnet Canyon area on Thursday morning by the Teton Interagency Helicopter. Efforts included five search and rescue dog teams and members of Teton County Search and Rescue.
Since McLaughlin’s plans were not declared, anyone who has been traveling in the Teton backcountry since June 8th may have seen him. Anyone with such information is asked to contact the National Park at 888-653-0009.
