The searches for two people missing in the different parts of the area’s backcountry have yet to locate either person.
The effort to find a seasonal resident of Jackson Hole who disappeared while hiking in Grand Teton National Park has been scaled down.  27-year-old Cian McLaughlin of Dublin, Ireland was last seen June 8th on Lupine Meadows Trailhead in the western part of the park and was reported missing June 13th after he failed to show up for work.
The search began with helicopters, ground crews, and large search parties looking for McLaughlin, but the search is now limited to only park staff monitoring the back country, while all back country hikers are being given a missing person poster of McLaughlin and being asked to keep an eye out.
Meanwhile, the search for a 23-year-old Montana State University grad student who disappeared while climbing in the Beartooth Mountains has also reverted to a recovery effort.
Searchers believe Tatum Morell likely got herself into an un-survivable situation since she set out July 2nd to climb one of the 12,000-foot peaks in the area carrying an emergency satellite transmitter.
Red Lodge Fire Chief Tom Kuntz who has been coordinating the search says, “After the extensive search efforts, we do not believe she survived.”
