Winter may not officially start until December 21, but Teton County has already experienced sub-zero temperatures and wintery conditions. The Teton County Engineering Division is reminding the public that all small wastewater facilities (septic systems) permits have a condition that installation is prohibited from November 15th through April 15th. Prior to this period, it is also a permit violation to install the system in inclement weather or freezing conditions, so there is no assurance that a system can be installed up until the November 15th deadline. Weather permitting and upon explicit approval requests by the Teton County Sanitarian, an extension to the November 15th deadline may be granted. Required repairs to failing systems may not be subject to the seasonal closure. Anyone with questions may contact Teton County Sanitarian Ted Van Holland.
