Analog film photographer Robert Buelteman grew up in the Bay Area, where he could see a big area of nature that people were not allowed to visit. He wanted to take pictures there and after three years of asking, he was allowed to visit for a day. He was eventually given permission to visit for a month and then for 10 years.
In the Unseen | Seen exhibition, Buelteman’s work shows how he wants to let nature speak for itself without any filters or changes. He takes his photos in black and white to remove his own ideas and let nature tell its own story. He says that we can find beauty in nature if we take the time to look for it.
Anne Muller, another artist in the exhibition, combines photography with painting to show the hidden energy and connections in nature. She wants to speak the language of “Tree,” which is what she calls Mother Nature’s language. She has been interested in nature since she was a child and uses her art to show what she sees and feels.
The exhibition runs until June 30, 2023, at Shari Brownfield Fine Art and there will be a reception on May 11 from 5-7pm at 55 South Glenwood Street. https://www.sharibrownfield.com
