The Jackson Police Department is preparing for its 14th annual Shop-With-A-Cop event, an initiative aimed at helping children and families in Teton County during the holiday season. This program partners children who have experienced financial hardship or traumatic events with local law enforcement officers to provide a memorable holiday experience.
Students are nominated for the program by staff from Teton County’s elementary and middle schools. The selected children will join officers to shop for gifts for their families at participating local businesses. On December 20, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., the families and officers will gather at the Presbyterian Church for a shared evening meal and Christmas party, where they can connect with one another and celebrate the holiday season.
Community members are invited to support the program through donations. Contributions will be used to purchase gifts and fund the Christmas party, with the goal of assisting 8-12 families this year. Checks can be made payable to the Town of Jackson.
For more information, questions, or to RSVP to the event by December 10, 2024, contact Detective Heidi Schmidl at HSchmidl@jacksonwy.gov or (307) 690-8033.
