The town of Jackson is developing increased communication opportunities with Tlaxcala, Mexico after officially declaring it a Sister City with Jackson in December. Jackson and Tlaxcala share similar geographies. Both are mountainous areas with national parks nearby and are directly linked by shared cultural heritage as many residents have moved to, work in, and settled in Jackson over the last 30 years.
This Sister City relationship is intended to formalize and strengthen the relationship between the two cities. The continued partnership may include more formal exchanges via video call, and further programs and opportunities to learn from one another and gain perspective about what is happening in each area on the local level.
