As Jackson Hole Mountain Resort prepares to open for the season Thursday, they have issued a reminder to those who just can’t wait that skinning up the resort trails is both dangerous and not legal. With almost 70 inches of snow over the last week, many workers and machines are on the mountain at this time, preparing for the Thanksgiving Day opening. As part of the resort’s special use permit with Bridger Teton National Forest, when the ski area is closed to public operation, access is prohibited due to hazard and safety considerations, including all uphill traffic, skiing and snowboarding. Meanwhile, Snow King Mountain Resort has the same pre-season restrictions and is gearing up to open December 5th. Grand Targhee began its 2020/21 season last Friday.
