Skier-triggered avalanches reported

The Bridger Teton National Forest Avalanche Center is reporting that in the past few days, there have been reports of multiple skier-triggered avalanches failing within the new snow as well as stepping down to older faceted layers from the January/February drought period.
These avalanches have been in the Palisades and Wyoming Range portions of the Southwest Trails forecast area The avalanches occurred on North to East aspects in terrain above 8,000 feet and ranged from 1-2 feet in depth. In the Tetons several shallow wind slabs that released naturally were observed in the upper elevations.

Signs of unstable snow due to warming in the afternoon were present in the mid and lower elevations with mostly rollerballs and shallow wet loose avalanches observed. The avalanche danger in that area is now considered moderate, and is also considered moderate in the higher elevations farther north in the county.
