Things are taking shape in downtown Driggs as the community observes its Ninth Annual Snowscapes competition and Snow Ball. The artistic endeavors begin today around the community. Over the course of 4 days, up to nine professional and amateur teams sculpt large blocks of snow and transform the Driggs city plaza into a favorite winter public art display. Creativity, fun and friendly competition make this a popular free community event that celebrates one of our favorite abundant local winter resources, SNOW! Children are welcome to learn how to sculpt and to play in the Community Fun Zone. There are free Snow Sculpting Workshops on Jan 14, 15, and 16. In addition to the snow sculptures being created, there will be free music, art and theater programs in the downtown area. People’s Choice and Kids’s Choice voting for this year’s winning sculpture takes place on from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm Saturday and the winners will be announced at the Snow Ball Saturday night.
