Snow King Mountain Will Open May 23rd

May 14, 2020 by Jackson Hole Radio

Wyoming’s Oldest Ski area Will Open with Covid Precautions and New Offerings

“Our leadership team has been working diligently to develop a summer operations plan that follows state and local health guidelines as well as industry standards. We are focused on finding the right balance to recreate safely in this new environment and are planning a phase opening of activities with a wide range of Covid safety precautions, ” said Ryan Stanley, General Manager.
Beginning Saturday, May 23, the Cowboy Coaster, Summit Scenic Lift, Mini Golf, and Amaze’n Maze will be open from 10 – 5 pm. The Treetop Adventure ropes course and zip-lines will be open weekends only by reservation with limited harnessing times and group sizes.  Private harnessing times will be available to small groups for a premium price on weekdays and in addition to set weekend time slots.  The Kings Grill will be open for the purchase of prepackaged snacks and drinks with limited indoor seating.  Snow King Mountain Sports in the Snow King Hotel will be open for rentals of a wide variety of bikes, stand-up paddle boards, and kids kayaks.  This summer, Snow King Mountain will be offering a variety of guided hiking experiences for small groups.
At this time, the Alpine Slide and bungee trampoline will remain closed.  Starting June 13, it is anticipated that the Alpine Slide, bungee trampoline, and Treetop Adventure will be open daily.
To meet customer demand for intimate group gatherings, the sales department has developed a menu of custom experiences combined with scenic gathering spots.   After 5:00pm all activities will be available for private small group gatherings with advance reservations.  “People are seeking intimate, outdoor experiences to celebrate being back together with family and friends and the many milestones – graduations, weddings, birthdays – that have been disrupted by the Covid pandemic,” says Sue Muncaster, Director of Sales. “It’s been a blessing to be a small, nimble, easily accessible resort able to cater our offerings to small groups.”
To mitigate the risks of exposure to the Covid virus, social distancing measures will be enforced via signage and spacing of participants on attractions. Employees with close proximity to guests will be wearing masks, physical barriers will be in place in high-contact areas such as ticketing. To further reduce contact, visitors are encouraged to buy tickets and sign waivers in advance online. It is recommended that guests bring their own mask to wear in case social distancing is not possible.  Handwashing and/or hand sanitizer will be available at the entry and exit of each activity, and to start, food and beverage will be limited to pre-packaged snacks and drinks.  Access to indoor  spaces will follow local health department guidelines. Frequent sanitization of all high-touch man-made surfaces and safety gear will occur throughout the day.
“We look forward to safely welcoming guests back to Snow King Mountain to play in our beautiful summer playground with family and friends. We ask that all of our guests do their part to recreate responsibility and follow government and health recommendations while visiting Snow King Mountain and Jackson Hole,” says General Manager, Ryan Stanley.
