The body of a 28-year-old snowboarder buried in an avalanche on Mt Taylor Wednesday has been recovered now. The man, identified as Trace Jordan Carrillo of Dubois, Wyoming, was discovered by an avalanche search dog and then airlifted off the mountain to the Coal Creek parking lot. The avalanche occurred about 2:45 Wednesday on the south face of Taylor, just west of Teton Pass. The victim’s partner had lost sight of him after the avalanche was triggered. The partner was unable to locate the victim via avalanche transceiver, and skied out to the Coal Creek parking lot to make the emergency call. Teams from Teton County Search and Rescue and Wyoming Department of Transportation responded to search the avalanche path and debris pile, working the top, middle, and bottom of the slide path, and used beacon searches as well as probe poles. The search was called off when it became too dark to proceed. The search resumed at daylight with 40 searchers, search dogs and the Search and Rescue helicopter. At 11:00 am. one of the dogs located the area the victim was buried and he was dug out.
