Snowmobilers Rescued

Members of Teton County Search and Rescue and a Grand Teton National Park ranger responded Thursday to assist Park County Wyoming in an aerial search for a group of eight snowmobilers missing on Beartooth Pass who had not been seen or heard of since Wednesday and had spent the night out in the elements.
With Teton County Search and Rescue on standby, Park County Search and Rescue learned of the group’s location, about six miles from the nearest trailhead, and requested a helicopter evacuation.
The Teton County helicopter loaded up two search and rescue volunteers and a ranger from Grand Teton National Park and flew to Cody to refuel. The team then responded to the site and successfully evacuated all eight snowmobilers to safety.
In a news release sent out Friday, Teton County Search and Rescue says despite the spike in incidents this winter, they remain ready and willing to help its neighbors. In the past few weeks, the team has responded to incidents in Fremont, Lincoln, and Park counties, as well as Grand Teton National Park.
