The Teton County Idaho Search and Rescue team is reporting that it was called out to assist an overdue party of four snowmobilers in the Big Hole mountains this weekend.
The party of four then turned into a party of six when two of their friends attempted to assist them and became stuck in the same North Fork of Canyon Creek. With limited cell phone battery, they advised that they were lost, wet, cold and stuck. Their water had frozen and they had limited food.
Madison County search and rescue confirmed their location a mile inside the Teton county line, and was unable to reach stranded party due to difficult terrain. 12 members of the Teton County team responded for the overnight mission, sending a team of six Snowmobiles with ski gear and supplies for the missing persons.
The party was located and provided a cook stove, food, water, snowshoes, and cell phone charging devices. The missing party was in good spirits with a large fire built and grateful for the supplies.
The party and rescue team returned safely on Sunday.
