Now that the snow has begun, just how much have we seen in the area? According to the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Snake River Basin and Upper Green River Basin have received 111% of normal for this time period.
Yellowstone headwaters is up to 100%, and the Wind River basin has 114% of normal. The snow-to-water equivalent for the Snake River basin is currently 87% of normal while the Upper Green is at 82%; but the Yellowstone Headwaters basin is currently at 97% and the Wind River basin boasts 100% of normal.
Statewide, the snow water equivalent is 103% of normal which provides hope following the long period of drought.
