Plans for an off-leash dog park and bicycle pump track planned for the Sage Meadows Subdivision east of Melody Ranch were dealt a blow by the Teton County Planning Commission this week.
Neighbors to the proposed site say the uses are not compatible with the area and interfered with migratory wildlife. They pointed out that existing uses of the Melody trailhead created a parking problem and that the additional uses would make it worse.
The dog park design included a 5-foot-tall perimeter fence, a shade structure, benches, and a Mutt Mitt dispenser.
The bicycle pump track design included a central trail intended for use by children, with moderate bumps and turns for beginner users.
The parks were proposed for daytime use only.
The planning commissioners voted unanimously against a recommendation for approval for the proposal, citing adverse impacts to the area and to wildlife.
