Special Olympics Wyoming athletes are making their final plans for the state Winter Games next week. Over 180 athletes,13 partners, plus their coaches, families, and chaperones, will celebrate over forty years of winter sports competition. Twenty-seven teams will be competing from across Wyoming, and Utah, Montana, and South Dakota will also be sending competitors. The athletes will be welcomed to Jackson with a torch run through town, food provided by McDonalds and served by Boy Scout Troop 268 at Jackson Hole High School and an opening ceremony in the auditorium with music provided by the Jackson Hole Community Band. Carolyn Burke is coordinating volunteers, primarily on Wednesday and Thursday for snowshoe and x-country skiing at the fields by Summit High School. The management team is also interested in recruiting tech-savvy volunteers to manage our data entry and reporting. There is software specific to Special Olympics they are seeking assistance with.
