The Jackson Hole High School Speech and Debate Team enjoyed success at their first tournament of the season held at Rock Springs High School Friday and Saturday, bringing home a 1st place team sweepstakes trophy along with twenty-five individual awards. Senior and team captain, Leila Sandlin led the way in the Program Oral Interpretation event with her first-place finish. Sophomore Hyla Chatham took second in varsity poetry with her selections about school shootings. Chatham paired with sophomore Trey Dykeman in Big Questions Debate where they placed third. Dykeman went on to pair with freshman Carter Worcester in Public Forum Debate to take second place. Th team next travels to Casper for the T-Bird Classic two weeks from now.The team is coached by Londe and Peggy Gagnon.
