Competing at their first all varsity meet of the season, the Jackson Hole High School Speech and Debate Team earned numerous individual awards and a first place finish in the team sweepstakes at the Kelly Walsh Invitational, held over the weekend in Casper. Thirteen schools competed in the tournament that saw nearly 300 individual entries. The team earned 65 sweepstakes points compared to second place Worland’s 26 sweepstakes points. Senior and team captain, Warren Levy had a triumphant weekend. He placed first in Extemporaneous Speaking; the event at the tournament with the largest number of entries. Levy went on to tie for first place in Lincoln Douglas Debate alongside sophomore William Aepli, “closing out” the finals of the event. Preston Harmon joined partner, Josh Hansen to bring home first place in Public Forum Debate. The team travels to Afton next week for their next competition.
