This weekend, we get to adjust our clocks again as the U.S. returns to daylight savings time. Under provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the federal government declared that the Uniform Time Act should extend the start and end dates of daylight savings to add four weeks to the daylight savings adjustment. The concept of daylight savings is that people won’t need their lights on at home until one hour later in the evening – but some argue it is disruptive to commerce and to people’s daily schedules.
This all comes at a time when the Wyoming state legislature, along with the legislatures in a variety of other states, consider outlawing the time changes in their states. However, the laws have not been passed or adopted yet. So go ahead and set those clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed Saturday night and be ready to use you headlights just a little longer when you go to work Monday morning.
