A 24-year-old Jackson man is in custody after a four-hour stand-off with police in the 500 block of East Hall Street. The incident began with a call concerning a domestic disturbance potentially involving violence.
On their arrival the two investigating officers were sprayed with bear spray by the male suspect. He then retreated into the residence and barricaded himself there. Jackson Police Officers, assisted by the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Medics on stand-by surrounded the house and attempted to negotiate a peaceful settlement with the subject.
During the stand-off a member of the detective division applied for and was granted a search warrant for the residence. At 7:07 pm, officers entered the residence to serve the search warrant and took the 24-year-old man into custody.
An investigation into the original call is still on-going and further details are pending as are charges against the suspect.
A police spokesman says residents of east Jackson may see continued police presence in the area as the search warrant is served and the investigation continues.
