Dignitaries and supporters dodged a wild cloudburst which up-ended shelter tents erected in Alpine Saturday evening for a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Star Valley Health clinic.
Since 2018, the clinic has provided health care from a double-wide trailer, supplying better access to healthcare for the people of Alpine, and then began sending specialty services, such as orthopedics, general surgery, and therapy services to provide more convenient access for the Alpine community.
However, healthcare officials say now the demand has exceeded its capacities. While participating in the groundbreaking, US Representative Liz Cheney took the opportunity to praise community’s efforts with a little flag-waving.
Cheney said, “This expansion tells you how strong this community is. It tells you what means about the values on which this community was founded, the values on which our state was founded – those are values that are defended and protected by our constitution.”
The new clinic building is being constructed at the at Alpine Junction and is anticipated for completion in about 10 or 11 months.
