During their Monday meeting, Jackson Town Council approved the lease of nine 40- foot heavy duty transit buses to be used for the Winter season. These vehicles replace BlueBird manufactured buses that have been decommissioned the past 2 winter seasons as the START board looks to take delivery of Proterra Zero Emission Electric vehicles in April of 2020. This will enable START to provide the same level of service as has been provided the community past several Winter seasons. START operates at peak time upwards to 23 vehicles during the Winter Season. The past two winter seasons, START has had to decommission eight 40ft low floor Blue Bird vehicles due to end of their useful life.
