START Bus is reporting a record setting 2018/2019 winter season. START’s 628,557 passengers this winter marks the highest ridership in the organization’s history, surpassing the previous record of 611,285 riders set last winter. That’s a 3% increase over the previous year.
There were 98 daily runs from Jackson to Teton Village with an average of 3,142 riders utilizing the Teton Village buses each day this season. START is currently investigating the feasibility of micro transit opportunities and is in the process of conducting a route analysis.
The purpose of both of these initiatives is to continue to find ways to improve service that will best serve the riding public and residents. Looking ahead to the summer of 2020, START will be incorporating up to 8 electric buses into the fleet.
