No doubt, you have been seeing national news about packets of mysterious seeds being randomly mailed from China to recipients in several American states. Wyoming is one of those states where these seeds are showing up. The Wyoming Department of Agriculture is warning residents, if you receive such a mailing, do not open, plant or dispose of the seeds by normal methods. Instead, hold onto the seeds and packaging, including the mailing label, until someone from the state department of agriculture or APHIS contacts you with further instructions. Agricultural scientists are concerned the unsolicited seeds could be invasive, introduce diseases to local plants, or be harmful to livestock. Those who may have received such a mailing should contact USDA-APHIS here in Wyoming at 307-432-7979 for instructions on how to deal with the package.
