Wyoming Game and Fish is doing battle with invasive cheatgrass around Western Wyoming. Game and Fish officials point out that the 150+ Sublette Mule Deer Migration Corridor in western Wyoming is one of a number of vital areas for wildlife in the state. One component of maintaining healthy mule deer herds is the ability of deer to find quality forage as they migrate. Unfortunately it’s an area where cheatgrass is present. Cheatgrass is a non-native grass that steals resources like moisture and nutrients from native plants making them less productive and nutritious for wildlife. Wyoming Game and Fish is working to control the spread of cheatgrass to improve habitat along the migration corridor by applying herbicide’s by aerial application.
