According to AAA Auto Club, a record number or people – nearly 49 million – plan an Independence Day getaway this week. With a majority of those planning to be on the road, the Wyoming Highway Patrol plans to be out in force to assure the safety of those travelers. Lt. Matt Brackin of Jackson division of the WHP says particularly this year, there are some real concerns going into the holiday travel period.
Lt. Brackin says the highway patrol has received a grant to fund additional troopers on the roads through the holiday period. Highway officials nationally predict today will be the heaviest travel day with the weekend not being far behind as people return home.
