A significant storm over Jackson Hole shortly before midnight Saturday night caused havoc in the valley for a time. A mudslide briefly closed Teton Pass, but Wyoming Department of Transportation personnel quickly cleared the debris from the road and the pass was reopened. There were no reports of any incidents involving people traveling the pass at the time.
At the same time, a lightning strike originally thought to have struck an apartment building on East Broadway apparently was enough to send a power surge into the building and damage a resident’s refrigerator. Fire investigators determined it was that which caused the odor of something burning as they surveyed the building for any other damage.
