Fifth graders at Munger Mountain Elementary are seeking to assure that the community of San Simeón and surrounding towns in Tlaxcala, Mexico will have a new library by providing a donation to the Latino Leadership Academy on Friday.
For the past eighteen years, district fifth graders have sold apples to raise funds to offset a portion of the costs of their annual Teton Science School experience and make contributions to worthy local, national, and international causes of their choice.
This year students sold 1,775 boxes of Fuji apples in the fall, raising over $44,000. Students at each school choose the recipient of the charitable funds, and this year Munger Mountain students were visited by representatives from the Latino Leadership Academy who presented their project to construct a library in San Simeón.
