If the thermometer has not been a clear indication that the summer season is ending, the closure of facilities in our nearby national parks should be. Grand Teton National Park announced Tuesday that seasonally operated campgrounds in Grand Teton National Park and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway have begun closing for the 2020 summer season and visitor services are winding down. With Jenny Lake Campground, Colter Bay Campground and Lizard Creek Campground already closed for the season, camping ends today in Headwaters Campground on the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway. They will be followed by the Colter Bay RV Campground and Gros Ventre Campground in the week ahead and Signal Mountain Campground the week after. This, in spite of the campgrounds in the parks and the forest filling every day. Meanwhile, hiking trails, park roads, and pathways remain open for all to enjoy.
