Authorities have not released the name of an avalanche victim who died yesterday near Grand Targhee.
The skier apparently walked under a rope boundary and out onto a cornice which gave way.
This started an avalanche, which carried the skier out and over a long drop. The man, located with the Grand Targhee avalanche dog was buried in two feet of snow and was deceased, presumably by trauma suffered in the slide.
