US Highway 191 north of Pinedale was closed for about 11 hours Sunday after a tanker truck overturned just north of The Rim south of Bondurant. The accident occurred around noon, shortly after a hailstorm went through the area and dropped a couple inches of hail onto the roadway. Wyoming Highway Patrol Lieutenant Klies Gunther says the northbound truck lost traction on the slick roadway and slid over the embankment into the Sour Moose Drainage. Lt. Gunther says the tanker, filled with gasoline bound for Jackson breached and lost between 500 and 1,000 gallons of its load. The remainder of the load was subsequently pumped into another tanker that was brought in and the highway was closed as a precaution due to the potential fire danger. Gunther says the Sublette County Unified Fire District was joined by Jackson Hole Fire and EMS hazmat team to contain the situation. Meanwhile, the driver of the truck was transported to the Pinedale Clinic where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
