Teton County Search & Rescue Foundation, Backcountry Zero,
Central Wyoming College and Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center have announced the 4th
annual Wyoming Snow and Avalanche Workshop to be held on Saturday, October 27th,
2018 at the Center for the Arts in Jackson, Wyoming. The workshop will run from
8:30am – 4:30pm with an after-party at Snake River Brewery from 4:30 – 6:30pm.

WYSAW is a full-day educational workshop for snow and avalanche professionals and
recreational backcountry users. The event includes a series of presentations from
world-class snow science professionals and a panel discussion. The event provides
attendees with an opportunity to engage in conversations about risk management,
terrain evaluation, snowpack considerations and more while traveling in avalanche
terrain.
This year’s event features an excellent line-up of speakers and a panel discussion,
“Avalanche Aftermath”, led by Executive Editor Matt Hansen from Powder Magazine. In
an effort to include the growing number of motorized users in the backcountry, the event
will also include a presentation by renowned snowmobile avalanche professional Lori
Zacaruk from ZacsTracs in Alberta, Canada.
In addition to the educational speakers, approximately 20 backcountry equipment
vendors, industry pros, retailers and guides will be on hand to discuss the latest in
backcountry technology and offer opportunities for further training. An after-party will be
hosted at the Snake River Brewery from 4:30-6:30pm with a raffle to benefit TCSAR at
6pm. WYSAW attendees will receive free beer and apps while they last.
Tickets for this year’s event are $25 in celebration of TCSAR’s 25th anniversary. The
ticket includes all speakers, coffee and snacks throughout the day, Pica’s burrito lunch,
a sweet swag bag, and apps and a beer at the after-party at Snake River Brewery.
Tickets will be available online until Thursday, October 25th. $30 tickets will be available
for purchase in person on Friday, October 26th from 11am – 1pm at Snake River
Brewery or at the event Saturday morning. Students age 18 and under can attend the
workshop for free. Please contact info@tetoncountysar.org to secure free student
tickets prior to the event.
New for 2018
WYSAW will include an additional workshop on Sunday, October 28th for Industry
Professionals. The Industry Pro workshop will run from 8:30am-Noon at the TCSAR
Hangar and topics will include: Insights from a Career in Rescue, Mental Health for First
Responders, Mindset of a Rescue Professional, Review of Avalanche Resuscitation
from a Medical Perspective, and Incident Management from a Legal Perspective. The
