TCSD #1 MCER Study Moves Forward

During the Wyoming Schools Facilities Commission (SFC)
meetings in Lusk, Wyoming this week, Teton County School District #1 was approved to
participate in a Most Cost Effective Remedy Study (MCER) to address secondary capacity
issues.

The SFC approved the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) that will include a MCER study
for Laramie County School District 1 and Teton County School District #1 with the hope that
cost efficiencies will be realized by having the same firm conduct both studies. Should the
state’s funds be insufficient to cover the costs of both studies, TCSD will cover the shortfall until
the state is able to allocate funds to repay the district.
Superintendent Gillian Chapman, who provided testimony to the SFC regarding the district’s
secondary capacity issues stated, “We are excited to take this next, critical step to further
document our capacity issues and for a professional review of the options the district has to
remedy the capacity challenges we face.” Dr. Chapman added that the district will soon convene
a collaborative advisory committee who will work with the consultants to prepare
recommendations for the Board of Trustees’ consideration.
Assistant Superintendent of Operational Services, Jeff Daugherty will participate in the writing
of the Most Cost Effective Remedy Study RFP during a meeting in Cheyenne on August 7th.
