The Town of Jackson, in collaboration with JH Public Art, has selected ten local artists to have their artwork featured on utility boxes throughout downtown Jackson. These artists were chosen from a group of thirty-nine applicants and will have their images printed on vinyl wraps to be displayed on traffic boxes.
The artists selected for this project are Taryn Boals, Sue Cedarholm, Wendell Field, Mae Orm, Miga Rossetti, Shannon Schacht, Kay Stratman, Kathryn Turner, Boughton Walden, and Travis Walker. Each artist submitted work based on the theme of “home,” focusing on what Jackson Hole means to them through depictions of people, places, and the region’s flora and fauna.
Kay Stratman, one of the selected artists, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I am quite excited to have my painting grace a utility box in Jackson. Seriously, it has actually been a goal of mine. I am joining a select pool of great artists. Art should be enjoyed by everyone.”
This project is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the town’s streetscape by incorporating local art into public spaces. The utility box wraps not only add visual interest but also serve as landmarks that highlight the character of the Jackson community.
Carrie Geraci, Executive Director of Jackson Hole Public Art, noted the project’s significance, stating, “We are very excited to showcase the talented local artists in our community through this Town of Jackson funded program, and we thank WYDOT for their participation. This project was suggested by a community member and is a favorite of locals and visitors.”
