St John’s Health has erected a tent in front of the hospital to help expedite the screening of residents who have concerns they may have contracted the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Hospital CEO Dr. Paul Beaupre told the town council Friday that the tent would be pressed into use starting today.
Beaupre said, “It will be another place where we can have people come who are concerned about having symptoms of COVID and be evaluated. Again, we are trying to diminish the traffic into the hospital so that our workers aren’t exposed and we can continue to offer necessary services to the community.
Still, hospital officials stress that patients should not simply drop in to be evaluated. The evaluations continue to be conducted by phoning our nurse call-line. Then, patients will get a telehealth visit if it’s determined that they need further screening with a physician. If the physician determines that the patient meets criteria for testing, they will order testing. The testing will be done by Home Health or in the medical tent, based on which location the physician prescribes.
