Teton County Commissioners are raising the salaries for Teton County Commissioners. The raises will not apply to any sitting commissioners, and they will also be increasing the salary of the Teton County Coroner.
At the commission meeting last week, the elected officials discussed the increase for those positions.
Commissioner Natalia Macker said the increase was warranted. “I think most people recognize that it’s a part time job that you have to give up full time work for and it takes up all your time so I think it it’s hard because it’s a big jump.”
Commissioner Greg Epstein said he wanted the public to know that the raise is for officials elected in 2024 and after.
“None of us are going to get a raise unless you get reelected or if you run again and I you know would like to see that this helps incentivize getting others and different sorts of people who want to run for elected office so I guess that’s why I’d be supportive of it but really that we are not giving ourselves a raise.”
The increase will move the annual pay for county commissioners and the coroner to 72,000 up from the current 50000.
