Teton County School District #1 is being recognized by the National School Boards Association for its success providing educational opportunities to their historically underserved students. During the pandemic, Jackson Hole High School initiated its innovative FLEX Program in an effort to provide individualized educational opportunities. The FLEX Program recognizes that students do not all learn at the same pace and allows for an individualized approach to meeting student needs.
The FLEX Program allows teachers to provide targeted support for students and entails a 35-minute period every day where students participate in various educational activities designed to meet their specific needs and interests. Additionally, Jackson Hole High School offers 12 Fridays throughout the school year where students who need additional support attend four one-hour classes to receive extra instruction.
All FLEX programming occurs during regular school hours. Since implementing this program, Jackson Hole High School has seen increased student engagement with a daily attendance rate of over 98% and a 95% participation rate in school activities.
