Tuesday’s election results should now be official today as election officials validated ballots cast in the county on Tuesday.
The county canvassing board is made up the county clerk, Mo Murphy, and two local electors of different political parties.
They examine the poll books, tally sheets, precinct certifications and oaths of election officials.
Then they summarize the number of votes cast in each precinct for every candidate appearing on the ballot and the total votes cast for write-in candidates to see if they may affect the result of an election.
Official vote totals are certified by the board and the tallies are recorded and made public.
