Several roads in Grand Teton National Park will close for the winter season beginning Thursday. Park Spokesperson Denise Germann says most notable among them is the Teton Park Road from Taggart Lake Parking area to Signal Mountain Lodge. She says however, while it closed to vehicles, it is open to biking and hiking until it is covered in snow. The Teton Park Road will remain closed now through April 30. The Signal Mountain Summit Road and Moose-Wilson Road from the Death Canyon Trailhead to the Granite Canyon Trailhead will also close to motor vehicles from November 1 until road and weather conditions permit, usually sometime around mid-May. Germann says other roads such as Antelope Flats, Deadmans Bar, Grassy Lake, Pilgrim Creek, Schwabacher, and Two Ocean are also closed seasonally based on conditions. The best way to keep up with the closures of those various roads she says is to check on the park’s website or call the park’s roads number at 739-3682. Germann adds that people traveling to the park should check the park’s website regarding what facilities are available during their visit.
