The Wyoming Department of Transportation will be replacing Gazex® avalanche control infrastructure on Mt. Glory this year between July 22ndand August 4th and again between Sept 2nd and Sept 10th. A staging area on the uphill side of the Mt Glory avalanche path near Milepost 10 will be closed during these times. Helicopter operations on July 28th will require brief intermittent traffic delays in support of this project as well. Gazex® exploders have been in use for avalanche control on the Bridger-Teton National Forest since 1992 by the Wyoming Department of Transportation at Teton Pass. Installation of the Gazex® exploders has proven effective in improving safety and reliability when considering overshooting, misfires/ unexploded ordinances and so forth by replacing the use of Avalaunchers and 105mm Howitzer shells during routine snow safety operations above Glory Bowl.
