Time For Flu Shots

The number of cases of influenza in Wyoming is starting to increase now and the Wyoming Department of Health is reaching out to remind residents of measures to help avoid becoming ill with influenza or spreading the virus. Reggie McClinton, epidemiologist with the department says he is seeing reports that indicate noticeable increases in the state’s northeastern and central areas now. McClinton says last year’s flu season was highly severe with at least 27 flu-related deaths. Influenza is a contagious, respiratory illness caused by a virus. Symptoms include fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose and muscle aches. The Department of Health encourages those who have not already done so, to get a flu shot. The vaccine not only can help you avoid the flu, it can also help make illnesses less severe for those who do still get sick.
